About Us

One of Ireland's most beloved exports is the Irish Pub. Each public house has its unique collection of relics on the wall and likewise a variety of patrons at the bar. Between the regulars, locals, and travelers, the pub becomes a particular place to experience a type of mingling where one can run the entire gamut of conversation with a good pint in hand.

The Sullivan Public House has been serving downtown Sanford approaching a decade but the building dates back to 1910 when it opened as a dry goods store for the Orlando merchant N P Yowell. The original pressed tin ceiling is intact while the old storefront window where our stage is located, draws the sunlight through to an exquisitely carved Indonesian teakwood back bar featuring one of the largest collections of Irish whiskeys in the Southeast.

The Sullivan has a fourteen seat bar and four longer refectory style tables that are popular with larger parties especially on our trivia night. The bar top is reclaimed wood from the Old National Guard Armory in Starke, FL and our chandeliers originally adorned a church but came to us by way of an architectural salvage in DeLand, FL. Some may recognize our booth seating from its former home, the now closed yet still beloved Rossi's Pizza, an Orlando institution dating back to the 1960's. If one desires a more private setting, the Sullivan has a traditional "Snug", our partitioned room off the bar historically used for propriety but now a memorable and unique option for whoever lays claim.

The Sullivan Public House exists to bring the essence of the Irish Pub to the downtown Sanford experience. We provide quality pints, whiskeys, and cocktails for all who wish to participate in the pub in whatever fashion suits whether that be a Saturday night with a live musician or your Sunday spot to catch the game. Visit us at 116 E 1st St in Sanford, FL.
